The Electoral Commission has dismissed a case filed by PFF member Ivan Bwowe, who had sued the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, claiming he was wrongly nominated to re-contest for the Nakawa West MP seat he currently holds.
In his complaint, Ivan Bwowe had alleged that Ssenyonyi was nominated to contest for the Nakawa West MP seat, yet according to him that constituency no longer exists. He argued that Ssenyonyi should instead have applied through the Nakawa West Division. Bwowe had requested that Ssenyonyi be removed from the race, but the Commission refused to grant his request because his complaint lacked merit and declined to intervene, effectively affirming Ssenyonyi’s nomination for the Nakawa West seat.
