Mbale – Uganda,
3rd February 2026.
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), led by its 2026 presidential flag bearer, Mr. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, has formally rejected the election results announced by the Electoral Commission, stating that they do not reflect the true will of the Ugandan people.

Addressing journalists during a press conference held in Mbale City, FDC leaders said the party has gathered what they described as credible and verifiable evidence to support their position. They argued that the Electoral Commission’s declared results are inconsistent with data collected by the party from various polling stations across the country.

Mr. Mafabi and other senior party officials raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the electoral process, including what they termed as procedural violtions and lack of transparency at critical stages of vote counting and tallying. They maintained that these issues significantly affected the credibility of the election outcome.
The party leadership emphasized that FDC is committed to pursuing constitutional and legal means to challenge the results, including engaging relevant institutions to seek electoral justice. They further called on the Electoral Commission to release detailed information and documentation to allow for independent verification of the results.
FDC also urged its supporters and the general public to remain calm and peaceful as the party undertakes the next steps in addressing the matter. The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to democratic principles, the rule of law, and the protection of the voters’ mandate.
