The judge of the High Court handling cases of fraud and corruption, Jane Okuo Kajuga, has sentenced the head of environmental affairs in Ibanda District, Nuwagira Tom, and the former Chief Administrative Officer of the district, Matsiko Mutwingire Abert, to 18 months in prison and ordered them to pay a fine of UGX 10.74 million after being found guilty of illegally selling government forest land. The two sold 13 acres of the Ibanda Local Forest Reserve.
They were arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, which investigates corruption cases, and were charged with abuse of office.
