Kampala – Uganda.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has officially informed the court that all charges against State Minister for Finance, Amos Lugoloobi, have been withdrawn.
Lugoloobi has been facing allegations of misusing iron sheets that were meant for the people of Karamoja under a government relief program. It was alleged that he diverted the iron sheets and used them to roof goat sheds on his farm in Kayunga District.
The minister, who has maintained his innocence since the case began, is now free of all legal charges. The DPP did not immediately give reasons for the withdrawal of the case.
This development marks a major turn in the controversial “iron sheets scandal”, which implicated several high-ranking government officials accused of benefiting from materials intended for vulnerable communities in Karamoja.
