The Minister of Finance, Hon. Matia Kasaija, has been nominated to contest in the NRM primaries for the position of Member of Parliament for Buyanja in Kibaale District.
Hon. Matia Kasaija has officially entered the race to represent Buyanja County in the upcoming NRM party primaries. Despite being one of the longest-serving figures in the region’s political landscape, he has confirmed that this campaign will mark his final bid for elective office.
Now in his 80s, he remains confident in his leadership, asserting that no contender can match his track record in serving the constituency. He’s also dismissed concerns about younger challengers, expressing readiness to defend his seat once more.
After his political career, he plans to retire to a quieter life on his farm, focusing on livestock and personal interests. His decision has sparked strategic shifts among emerging leaders in Kibaale who had been eyeing his position.
