The National Unity Platform (NUP) spokesperson, Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, appeared before court earlier today to answer charges related to allegedly inciting party supporters to attack security personnel.
During the court session, Mufumbiro, who denied the allegations, applied for bail and presented three sureties to support his request. However, the court declined to hear his bail application, citing pending procedural matters.
As a result, Mufumbiro was remanded to Luzira Prison until November 13, when his case will return to court for further hearing.
The NUP has described the charges as politically motivated and has called for his immediate release, saying the move is part of a broader campaign to silence opposition voices.
Meanwhile, supporters gathered outside the court premises, chanting pro-NUP slogans and demanding justice for their spokesperson. Security remained tight throughout the proceedings.
