Today at Kololo Independence Grounds, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) officially opened its delegates’ conference, presided over by Uganda’s President and NRM Chairperson, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. In his keynote address, President Museveni urged newly elected leaders to unite in the fight against corruption—particularly among public servants—and to help curb the widespread issue of illegal land grabbing.
He emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency, noting that Members of Parliament will be tasked with monitoring road construction projects across various regions. This follows the government’s allocation of UGX 1.3 trillion to local governments for the maintenance of murram roads, aimed at improving transportation infrastructure nationwide.
President Museveni was warmly received by party members and dignitaries as he arrived at the Kololo Grounds to kick off the conference.
