Belgian coach Paul Put has extended his contract as head coach of the Uganda Cranes until 2028. He first took charge of the national team in November 2023 on a two-year deal. After guiding the team through successful campaigns, including qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, FUFA (Federation of Uganda Football Associations) decided to extend his tenure.

Put’s contract renewal reflects FUFA’s confidence in his plan to develop the team ahead of major tournaments like the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and upcoming World Cup qualifiers. He has emphasized blending local league talent with foreign-based players to strengthen the squad and prepare the next generation.

After signing the new deal, Put expressed happiness and optimism, saying the team is on the right path but still has room to grow. Fans and football analysts see this move as a commitment to long-term stability and progress for Ugandan football.
