People’s front for Freedom party member Makokha Mugeni Samuel has appeared before the Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court, where he was formally charged with concealing information related to an alleged plot to overthrow the government involving opposition figure Dr. Kizza Besigye and Hajji Lutale Obedi Kamulegeya.
Presiding Chief Magistrate Allan Gakyalo heard from the prosecution that Makokha allegedly possessed knowledge of a plan attributed to Dr. Besigye but failed to report it to the authorities, which constitutes an offense under Ugandan law.
The matter was, however, adjourned to the 16th of this month after the state prosecutor handling the case failed to appear in court. Makokha remains charged as investigations and court proceedings continue.
