The Rotary Club of Bwebajja has donated a collection of reading books to Horizon Kids Centre in Mpala Bubuli, near Katabi Town Council. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the reading culture among young learners, with special attention to empowering the girl child.

The donation supports the global campaign “Drop Everything and Read” (DEAR), which encourages people to pause daily activities and dedicate time to reading. The campaign seeks to inspire children to develop a lifelong love for books and literacy.

Rotary Club President Hajji Hassan Nyenje said the gesture was meant to promote education. This has been done to boost the reading culture in schools and mostly the girl child,” he explained.

Horizon Kids Centre, located along Entebbe Road, is a nursery and primary school dedicated to holistic child development. The institution combines academics with fun-based activities to nurture well-rounded learners.

The book donation is part of the Rotary Club of Bwebajja’s ongoing community service projects, which focus on education, youth empowerment, and community well-being.

This effort highlights Rotary’s commitment to literacy as a tool for empowerment and brighter futures for children in the community.
