Kampala, Uganda

The Secretary General of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and Kampala parliamentary aspirant, David Lewis Rubongoya, visited residents affected by the flooding caused by heavy overnight rains that inundated parts of the city early this morning.

During his visit, Rubongoya spoke with families and business owners whose homes and shops were damaged, offering support and assessing the impact of the floods. Many residents expressed frustration over the recurring flooding, which they say has become a regular problem during heavy rains.

Rubongoya called on city authorities to take urgent action to prevent future disasters, including improving drainage systems and providing relief to those affected.

“This is a recurring problem that affects livelihoods and disrupts daily life. We need sustainable solutions to ensure residents are safe and businesses are protected,” he said.

The visit comes amid growing public concern over Kampala’s drainage infrastructure, particularly along areas prone to flooding, such as Nakivubo Channel, which has repeatedly caused havoc during heavy rains.
