Police in the Rwizi Region has arrested Enock Atwebembire in connection with the murder of his relative, Ninsiima Medius, a resident of Kyonyo Village, Mwizi Sub-county, in Rwampara District.
The incident occurred during the night leading into yesterday, when the assailant ambushed Ninsiima near her home and repeatedly attacked her with a sharp object before fleeing the scene. She later succumbed to her injuries.
Following the attack, police deployed sniffer dogs to assist with the investigation. The dogs tracked a scent trail that led officers to a public gathering, where Enock Atwebembire was identified among the crowd and arrested.
Further inquiries revealed that the suspect had previously been found hiding under the deceased’s bed while armed with a panga, raising suspicion of prior intent. Investigations are ongoing as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the murder.
