Kampala – Uganda
The High Court has granted bail to Sarah Bireete, the Chief Executive Officer of the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) Bureau, who is facing charges related to her official duties at the bureau.
According to court proceedings, Bireete satisfied all the bail conditions set by the presiding judge, paving the way for her temporary release as investigations and legal processes continue. The court imposed strict bail terms, which she is required to observe until the matter is fully determined.
Bireete’s release has attracted considerable public interest due to her influential role in overseeing civil society organisations and her involvement in governance-related work.
The case remains before the court, with further proceedings expected as authorities continue their investigations.
