Three Charged in Wakiso Land and UGX 100m Theft Case

Ssempijja Edward, Mirimu Ivan, and Bbaale Joseph have been charged with criminal trespass on land, malicious damage to property, and theft, with the case filed before the Wakiso Chief Magistrates Court.

It is reported that between October and November this year, the accused, together with others still at large, allegedly mobilized a group of people and went to land belonging to Pontiano Kaweesa Ssengendo of Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd, located in Kasanje Town Council, Busiro, on Block 514, Plots 6, 10, and 12.

They are accused of destroying crops on the land, including various tree species, coffee, and other plants. They are also accused of stealing metal equipment used in a coffee hulling machine (motors) valued at 100 million shillings.

Mirimu Ivan and Bbaale Joseph have been remanded until the 3rd of next month.

The suspects were brought to court by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working in collaboration with the Police Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
