Two people have died and several others are nursing injuries following a road crash in Kasese District.
Police say preliminary findings point to human error, with speeding and reckless overtaking cited as the cause.
Authorities are urging all motorists to exercise caution and respect traffic regulations to avoid further tragedies.
A tragic road accident unfolded on Thursday afternoon in Muhokya Town, situated along the Kasese–Mbarara highway. The collision involved a Toyota Hiace minibus and a Mitsubishi Pajero, resulting in a devastating head-on impact. Preliminary reports indicate that the Hiace attempted to overtake a stationary vehicle when it crashed into the Pajero traveling in the opposite lane.
The crash claimed the lives of David Remegius Mbusa, an employee of Centenary Bank, and Mathias Maate, a student. Both victims died instantly. Several other passengers sustained serious injuries and were quickly transported to nearby medical facilities for emergency care.
