Over 100  cardinals to be locked out when the conclave to elect a new Pope convenes on May 7 because of their age

According to the Vatican rules, any cardinal who has turned 80 loses the right to vote for the next pontiff, among them is Uganda’s respectful cardinal Emmanuel Wamala, now 98.

This voting rule was introduced by Pope Paul VI in 1970, and later approved by Pope John Paul II, aimed to address concerns about the ‘mental and physical strain of the lengthy-closed door election. However this situation keeps a lingering question in many hearts as to why age limit in voting?!
