On the 9th of October, Uganda will celebrate 62 years of freedom from British imperialism.
The commemoration of the 62nd independence will be held at Busikho Teacher’s Demonstration primary school grounds in Masafu Town Council, Busia district with a theme, “A recommitment to secure and fortify our destiny “.
On the 9th day of October, 1962,the Duke of Kent handed over instruments of power for Uganda’s independence to Dr Apollo Milton Obote,on behalf of the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain.
Thousands of Ugandans gathered at Kololo grounds to witness the lowering of the British Union Jack, and the hoisting of the Ugandan flag,hence the name Kololo independence grounds.
