A highly infectious Viral Outbreak Wipes Out 553 Goats in Kabarole as confirmed by the Distirct authorities over the weekend which has left over 100 farmers on tension, according to Kusiimakwe Dean Tugume the district’s veterinary officer.
Tt has been revealed that these goats were grants to farmers from Ngora Distirct through the BRAC Uganda Limited Livelihood initiative, but unfortunately 90% of the goats are dead despite the claims by BRAC that they were vaccinated.
The ministry of Agriculture and Animal has responded by supplying 10,000 PPR vaccine doses in the affected communities, and farmers have been cautioned against eating meat from infected or dead animals due to potential health risks.
