The secretary of IPOD Frank Rusa has come out and revealed that their funders the NIMD have deliberately said that their ties continued funding to NUP joining IPOD.
Frank Rusa said that when he approached the National Unity Platform party leadership including their president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, they told him that they can’t join IPOD since a party which is part of the IPOD (NRM) has illegally detained their members on issues affiliated with 2021 election.
“After this meeting, we called for an IPOD summit and I tabled the NUP issues in that very summit which was attended by the president of Uganda, and we only discussed about NUP political prisoners, after that summit 58 prisoners were freed” He said.
He however wondered how a new political party without any experience of how things are done in IPOD, would actually say that “it’s an opportunity of taking photos with president Museveni ” as it’s attributed to NUP president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert on why he refused his party to join IPOD.

James Tweheyo (NRM) who is also a member of IPOD and councilrevealed that this is the beginning of IPOD not it’s end, since it’s the chance for IPOD to stand on it’s own without any financial support from any foreign funder.
