After a UDA lawmaker revealing plans to seek the scrapping of the presidential term limit, noting that the cap should be on age, not period of service, former presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine has come out and advised the people of Kenya not to temper with amending their constitution.

Bobi Wine said that this will affect the democratic process of Kenya which will turn their country to be like Uganda.

Should the MPs have their way, they would give Dr William Samuel Ruto the sitting President, the leeway to seek re-election for four terms, or 20 years. Dr Ruto is aged 55 and has not indicated any intention to contest beyond the current term limit.

Fafi MP Salah Yakub said some UDA lawmakers are working on a constitutional amendment Bill to replace the two-term limit with an age limit of 75 years.

Bobi Wine was among the MPs who said no to the removal of presidential age-limit in the amendment of article 102(b)of Uganda’s constitution
